George and Martha Washington Talks

George and Martha Washington were married on January 6, 1759. Martha was previously married to Daniel Parke Custis and became a widow in 1757. They lived at Mount Vernon, a plantation in Virginia, and while George was involved in politics and the Revolutionary War, Martha managed the estate. They had no children of their own but raised Martha’s two children and grandchildren.
